blueEight suspected snipers were arrested by security forces during a counterterrorism operation in the city of Osh in Osh province on 17 June. Government officials claimed on 15 June that supporters of ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiev had hired snipers to provoke ethnic clashes between local Uzbeks and Kyrgyz.
